On 8 February 2010, the Migration Occupation in Demand List (MODL) was revoked for all visa applicants, except:

  1. Applicants who held a subclass 485 (Skilled Graduate) visa IF before 1 January 2013 they make an application for a Subclass 885, 886 or 487 visa; OR
  2. Applicants who had applied for a subclass 485 visa that was undecided as at 8 February 2010 IF before 1 January 2013 they make an application for a Subclass 885, 886 or 487 visa: OR
  3. Applicants who, on 8 February 2010, had a pending application for a General Skilled Migration visa.

The Department has recently clarified that for the above classes of people still eligible to use MODL, the occupations on the MODL now refer to the new Australia and New Zealand Standard of Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO), rather than the previous ASCO codes.

For more information on occupations on ANZSCO, please refer to our article titled “Changeover from ASCO to ANZSCO from 1 July 2010”.
