Changes to health requirements for onshore Skilled Migration applicants
Due to long processing times, DIAC has recently announced its intention to remove the requirement that applicants book a medical examination before lodging an application for the onshore Skilled Migration visas. This change will likely come into effect later in 2010.
As an interim measure, DIAC requires applicants for 485, 487, 885 and 886 visas to ring Medibank Health Solutions on 1300 361 046 to ask for a booking reference number and include this with their application. This is all that is required of applicants and is not the same as booking an appointment for a health check.
The above change is welcome news for Skilled Migration applicants and should reduce the possibility of applicants having to undertake a second health check due to visa processing delays.
