Organisations may nominate an existing sponsored worker worker (holding a primary subclass 482 or 457 visa) under the subclass 186 Temporary Resident Transition (TRT) stream, where the worker has worked full time in the nominated occupation(s) for at least 2 of the last 3 years on a primary subclass 482 or 457 visa(s). The sponsored worker will not need to demonstrate that they have worked for the same sponsor for the entire period. However, it is essential that the organisation that is nominating the sponsored worker for the subclass 186 TRT stream visa, is also their current sponsor and nominator of their primary 482 or 457 visa.
The position must be fulltime and available for at least 2 years from date of subclass 186 visa grant, without excluding the possibility of renewal. There are exceptions to the full time 2-year employment requirements for workers offered positions as Managing Directors, Corporate General Managers and certain Medical Practitioners.
The worker must be less than 45, unless exempt, and meet English, character and health criteria.
