On 1 November 2010 the Victorian Government announced and implemented its State Migration Plan.
The State Migration Plan will be of significance to persons seeking nomination by the Victorian government under the following General Skilled Migration visas: Skilled-Sponsored (subclasses 176 and 886) and Skilled – Regional Sponsored (subclasses 457 and 487).
The Victorian State Migration Plan allows the Victorian Government to nominate skilled applicants, whose occupations are listed on the State Sponsorship Eligibility List. This arrangement is limited by a quota and an overall cap on the total number of applications that the Victorian government can nominate each year. For the 2010-2011 financial year the Victorian Government is entitled to nominate 4,500 visa grants, which includes both primary and secondary (for example partners and children) applicants. The State Sponsorship Eligibility list will be updated to indicate when the limit has been reached for any occupation.
